Mrs. Walker
First, I guess that I should start by telling you a little bit about myself. I have lived in New Bern my entire life and am proud to say that I attended James W. Smith as a child. I also went to West Craven Middle and West Craven High. It was great growing up in the community and the environment was filled with loving and supportive educators and mentors. It was several of these people that over the years inspired me to go into the teaching profession.
After high school, I attended and graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Craven Community College. I then participated in the Wachovia Partnership East Program, which allowed me to work full-time while earning my Bachelor’s Degree through East Carolina University. It was during this program that I began a most fulfilling internship in first grade at J.T. Barber Elementary. After this wonderful experience, I subbed in the Craven County School System for six months. It was with great joy and excitement that I got a phone call to begin my 1st year teaching at my alma mater, James W. Smith. I even got to work with some of the wonderful people who influenced me over the years!
I am thrilled to begin my 8th year of teaching this year and I know that it is going to be an awesome year! I will once again be working with an amazing team! I should also mention that I have a very supportive husband and beautiful child at home.
